BCS preliminary test likely to be deferred
Staff Correspondent
In the wake of raging floods, the Public Service Commission (PSC) is considering to defer preliminary test of the 25th BCS examination scheduled for Friday. The PSC has convened a meeting to discuss the issue as the flood situation has deteriorated alarmingly, a source close to the PSC chairman told The Daily Star yesterday. "The meeting will be held at 9.00am tomorrow (Wednesday)," he said. Examinees from some areas, especially greater Sylhet, may face difficulty in taking part in the exam because of severe flooding, with educational institutions closed and communications mostly cut off in the region. The preliminary test is scheduled to take place at different centres in Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal and Sylhet. But all the four examination centres in Sylhet -- MC College, Government Women's College, Sylhet Government College and C Aided high School -- have been closed for indefinite period because of floods that swamped the entire city.
