Nat'l workshop on astronomy begins


A two-month National Astronomy Training Workshop began in the city yesterday.

Bangladesh Astronomical Association (BAA) organised the workshop to inspire the people to know more about astronomy and facilitate research work.

Inaugurating the workshop, Vice-Chancellor of BRAC University Jamilur Reza Chowdhury said the workshop would help build a science-literate society.

The workshop will focus on the history of the astronomy, Big Bang theory, solar system, life in universe, ultimate fate of the universe, satellite communication and research on astronomy.

Forty-three students from various schools, colleges and universities are taking part in the workshop.

AR Khan, former chairman of the applied physics department of Dhaka University, presided over the inaugural ceremony.
