Bangla Bhai media's creation, Nizami reiterates

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Industries minister Motiur Rahman Nizami yesterday said some newspapers are giving shelter to Bangla Bhai.

"Bangla Bhai was created by some newspapers as the government has found no existence of him," said Nizami while addressing the press conference at its central office.

He also accused newspapers saying they have links with Bangla Bhai.

"If they (newspapers) do not have any relations with him (Bangla Bhai) then how do they publish exclusive interview of Bangla Bhai," the Jamaat Ameer added.

He also criticised newspapers for publishing 'excessive' news on Bangla Bhai.

"The way Bangla Bhai has been presented by some newspapers made people wish to become Bangla Bhai and get news coverage," Nizami told the press conference.

Asked if the government's image would be tarnished as Bangla Bhai is still at large even after the prime ministerial direction to arrest him, Nizami replied, " The image of the government will not be damaged rather newspapers that publish reports on Bangla Bhai will lose their credibility."

Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Ali Ahsan Mohammed Mujahid said the government will certainly take legal actions against Bangla Bhai if he is traced out.

Referring to some recent comments made by Opposition Leader Shiekh Hasina regarding links between Jamaat-e-Islami and some militant organisations, Nizami claimed his party has no links with any militant group.

The Jamaat leader said "Jamaat-e-Islami never dreams for Taliban style revolution rather it wants to establish an Islamic state in a systematic manner."

Regarding recent incidents of death threat to some intellectuals, the Jamaat leader said question of involvement of Jamaat-e-Islami with such incidents cannot arise at all.

Replying to another question regarding country's flood situation, Mujahid said the government may declare some areas of the country "flood-affected" but the situation is not serious enough to call those areas "disaster-prone".

The press conference was also attended by Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Kamaruzzaman, Abdul Kader Mollah, ATM Azharul Islam and Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Maqbul Ahmed.
