Hasina meets Monmohan

Opposition leader Sheikh Hasina yesterday met Indian Prime Minister Monmohan Singh in New Delhi and discussed relations between the two next-door neighbours as well as regional developments.The meeting between Hasina and Singh lasted 30 minutes from 4:15 PM (IST). Indian National Security Advisor JN Dixit, Foreign Secretary Shashank, Hasina's younger sister Sheikh Rehana and Bangladesh lawmaker Kazi Zafrullah were present at the meeting at the official residence of the Indian prime minister. Singh and Hasina had one-to-one discussions before they took their aides in, Hasina's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad told the UNB. But Azad could not say about the topic of the exclusive talks between the two leaders. Hasina is on a four-day visit to India during which she is likely to meet a host of other Indian leaders, including former premier Atal Behari Vajpayee. Indian External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh hosted a dinner in honour of Hasina. Indian political leaders, bureaucrats and intelligentsia attended the dinner.
