Army enter super league


Bangladesh Army became the first team to move into the super league of the ANAS Group 25th National Hockey Championship when they blanked Patuakhali 4-0 at the Maulana Bhasani National Stadium yesterday.

The winners led the first half 3-0.

Yasin Ali struck twice while Abu Saeed Alo and Maksudul Haq Siddique netted one goal apiece.

It was Army's third success victory.

Bangladesh Railway also brightened their chances of a super league berth after beating Mymensingh 2-0. It was their second win in three outings.

Sanjid Kumar Das scored for the winners in the first half.

Meanwhile, BKSP made a flying start in the other group when they crushed Bangladesh Police 8-0 at the in day's first match.

Captain Ataur Rahman sounded the board three times while Tariqul Islam struck twice and Zahirul Islam, Shishir Kumar and Kamal Uddin netted one goal each for the sports academy students.

In the other match, Rajshahi thrashed Narayanganj 3-0 after leading the first half 2-0. National froward Ashraful Islam Shishu scored two twice while Hosne Mobarak Sumon added the other.
