Burglary at six shops

A gang of burglars broke into and vandalised six shops at Panthapath in the city and took away Tk 60,000 in the early hours of yesterday.The shops are New Designers' Furniture, Haji Iron Store, Sadem Metal, Tania Glass House, Kalabagan Hair Dresser and Power Furniture. The first five shops are adjacent to one another while the last one is on the other side of the road. Employees opened the shops in the morning only to find that their establishments were looted. The gang entered the shops by cutting open the roofs. Yunus Mia, owner of Sadem Metal, filed a case with Dhanmondi police and Manager of Power Furniture Ashfaquzzaman filed another case with Tejgaon police. Ashfaquzzaman said the gang took away Tk 30,000 from his shop.
