Darfur tragedy

Thank you for covering the Darfur tradegy in Sudan. The ethnic cleansing, raping, killing and looting have been going on for 16 months now and the Sudanese government has not been listening to repeated appeals from people around the world.

Now that the rainy season has set in, almost 1,000 people are dying everyday. As a fellow Muslim country, the Bangladesh government and Bangladeshi people should use their good offices to pressurise Sudan to stop the atrocities forthwith. Isn't a matter of great shame that while Arab countries cry aloud about their victimisation, one of them ( Sudan) is now involved in the worst type of cruelty?

This refers to the second editorial in DS on July 29 captioned 'Genocide in Sudan'

I think the editorial is based on the regular diet of western media feed .

The Arab militia, it is mentioned, is not at all Arab in complexion or origin. The Janjabis are a black African Muslim Nomadic tribe who for some queer reason call themselves Arabs. If you had followed the BBC broadcast for the last one week, you would have noticed that, for the last 3-4 days, the newscasters are not referring to the Janjabis as 'Arabs'. This had happened after BBC had interviewed a person of an organization 'Justice Africa' who seemed to be the most knowledgeable and an authority on the Sudanese civil war. If you care to check the fact then you can do that by browsing BBC archive on internet.

The second point is that the victims of Janjabi terror campaign are also Muslims by and large.

The third point is that there was a long drawn tribal dispute for land between the Janjabis and other tribes.

It is not reasonable to go by the tunes of the so called American HR outfits.
