One seat wise...

I am not an ardent supporter of any of the political parties of Bangladesh. The cause need not be elaborated. However, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) seemed to me somewhat more acceptable because of its rather weak stance. Because in our country political parties do more harm than welfare to the nation. A more powerful party means more harm to the nation. Besides, the Awami League's 'holier than all' attitude is not acceptable .

But the nation failed to vote according to their (AL's) calculation just to defeat the party in 2001. They gave the BNP a two thirds majority. The result is a more than required powerful ruling party. So, now we are to digest the harm done by this unbridled power !

The party (or the alliance) has been failed to realise the power of the people. In the July 1 by-election to Dhaka-10 seat, the ruling party resorted to large scale rigging and there is no doubt about that!

Why the BNP was so eager to have this otherwise unnecessary seat is a big question.

So it seems that the party in power may have won a single seat for losing all the seats in future!
