Swiss experts evaluating flood damage

Experts from Switzerland are evaluating the damage caused by floods and will consider providing an additional Tk 2.25 crore for the rehabilitation and reconstruction.

Through the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC), the Swiss Government is currently providing relief to the flood-affected people of Netrokona, Sunamganj, Chapainawabganj, Sirajganj and Tangail regions through four different NGOs.

The total amount of emergency relief is about Tk 78 lakh. They are also providing humanitarian relief aid of Tk 1.12 crore through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC).

A total of about Tk 2 crore worth of emergency aid is also being provided to 10,000 marooned families (about 50,000 people). This is mainly being used to provide Oral Rehydration Saline (ORS), food and emergency shelter for the displaced people.

Further assistance will be provided for women headed households in the post flood period, said a press release.
