PM receives cheques for Tk 54 lakh for flood victims


More associations, ministries and individuals yesterday came up with donations for the Prime Minister's Relief Fund to provide emergency assistance for the flood victims.

Prime Minister Khaleda Zia received cheques for Tk 54 lakh and medicines worth Tk 1.1 crore at her office.

Bangladesh Oushad Shilpa Samity donated the medicines. Health Minister Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, State Minister for Health Mizanur Rahman Sinha and Oushad Silpa Samity President Shafiuzzaman were present.

The other organisations and ministries that contributed to the PM's Relief Fund included Law Ministry, Social Welfare Ministry, Cultural Affairs Ministry, Judicial Service Association, Rupali Bank Ltd, Chittagong Shahi Jame Masjid Musulli Parishad, Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General, Islamic University, Kushtia and Agriculturists' Association of Bangladesh.

Viqarunessa Noon School and College, Bangladesh Rovers Scout, Chittagong Dal (Pulse) Traders' Association and a DCC commissioner of ward No.48 were also among the contributors to the PM's fund.
