We are not honest

Readers would certainly, as far as I can understand, subject me to severe ridicule for such generalisation above. But I request you to relax and think what I say. On a Pahela Baishakh celebration people of all ages especially young boys and girls come out in great enthusiasm to mark the day. But as I have found them, they are not honest. The boys in their Bangalee attire (just for the day only) come out to 'see' the girls and, the girls in the breath-taking appearance come out to flirt. DU campus, Ramna Park, Dhanmondi Lake are the centres for such flirtation. I must say, some people enjoy the occasion for its own sake but the honest faces generally cannot surface being subdued by the pretentious ones.

Take another national celebration- the Independence Day or the Victory Day, for example. Cultural programmes and concerts are held- huge gatherings take place all around the city and the country, but the value of these days is left unexercised.
