Rejoinder and our reply
One Bank Limited (OBL) in a rejoinder to the report titled "7 Banks Under BB Performance Watch" published in The Daily Star of August 4, 2004, said there was no cause for OBL to be bracketed as one of the seven institutions under Bangladesh Bank's (BB) 'Early Warning System.'The rejoinder further added question of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BB to improve OBL's performance does not arise, as OBL's financial indicators are quite satisfactory. OBL authorities also stated that they have not received any verbal or written indication from BB with regard to signing MoU. OUR REPLY:
A BB report sent to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance Ministry cited OBL's name with six other banks that have been brought under the new 'Early Warning System'. The name of OBL understandably came in The Daily Star report as it was based on the aforementioned BB report.
