Different bodies condemn Sylhet bomb blasts

Different organisations yesterday condemned the twin bomb blasts in Sylhet on Thursday and demanded exemplary punishment to those responsible for the incidents.

Awami League General Secretary Abdul Jalil has demanded immediate arrest of the persons behind the bomb explosions at two cinema halls.

Bangladesh Communist Party (CPB) President Manjurul Ahsan Khan and General Secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim said the extremists are continuing their heinous acts due to the failure of the government to bring them to justice.

In a joint statement, they urged the authorities concerned to arrest all miscreants who were behind the series of bomb blasts in Sylhet and other parts of the country.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) condemned the latest bomb explosions at two cinema halls in Sylhet and said these could not take place if the culprits of previous bomb blasts were arrested.

Sylhet Division Development Action Council (SDDAC) brought out a procession in the city protesting the bomb blasts.

Council leaders said the inhabitants of Sylhet are passing their days amidst a sense of insecurity due to repeated incidents of bomb explosions.

They demanded of the government to form a judicial probe committee for impartial investigation of the incident.

Human Rights Review Society also condemned the incidents.
