'Stop distortion of history'
Children form human chain in protest

Hundreds of children and juveniles came out on the streets yesterday to demand immediate execution of the verdict in Bangabandhu Murder Case and protest the distortion of liberation war history.They also formed a human chain in front of the Supreme Court in the city with a call to remove the distorted information from 'Bangladesher Swadhinata Juddha: Dalilpatra' so that the future generations can learn about real history. "Please, stop distorting the history. Don't deprive us of our right to know about real history and the contribution of Bangabandhu Shiekh Mujibur Rahman to the liberation war," said Sadia Arefin Nishad, a 10-year-old girl from Mohammadpur. Dola, a 12-year-old girl from Motijheel, also echoed the same sentiment. The Chironton '71, a children's forum, organised the programme to mark the 29th death anniversary of Bangabandhu, founding father of the nation. Alamgir Kumkum, cultural secretary of the Awami League, said it is high time to oust the BNP-led four-party alliance government to protect the rights of new generation to know the real history. He also demanded immediate execution of the verdict in the Bangabandhu Murder case. Bashir Ahmed, secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association, expressed solitary with the programme and said the government should execute the verdict as soon as possible to ensure the rule of law. Chironton '71 President Begum Tehura Ali, Golam Kibria and Akhtaruzzaman also spoke.
