Relief work continues for flood victims


Different political parties and socio-cultural organisations yesterday continued their relief activities in flood-hit areas in the city and other parts of the country.

Workers Party of Bangladesh distributed food, oral saline and water purification tablets at six flood shelters in Gaibandha and Sirajganj districts. Besides, the party activist distributed relief materials at a flood shelter in the city's Badda area.

Chief of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh Professor AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury distributed relief materials at Modhubag and Mirerbag area in the capital.

LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan distributed rice, potatoes and other relief materials at Moghbazar in the city.

Dhaka City Corporation Mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka distributed cooked food, clothes and water purification tablets in city's Sutrapur, Suritola and Soarighat areas.

Meanwhile, Supreme Court Bar Association is preparing one lakh oral saline for distribution in flood-hit areas across the country.

The association has already distributed relief materials in Manikganj, Narsingdi, Narayanganj, Gopalganj, Madaripur, Pabna, Jamalpur and Gaibandha districts.

A total of 41 medical teams of Bangladesh Medical Association are giving treatment to sick people at Motijheel, Sabujbag, Khilgaon, Ramna, Tejgaon, Sutrapur and Lalbag areas in the capital.

Hamdard Laboratories Bangladesh distributed rice, clothes and medicine among the flood-affected people in Keraniganj.

Amin Mohammed Foundation distributed relief materials among the flood-affected people in city's West Rampura and Ulan areas.

Pakundia Samity, Dhaka distributed rice, clothes and cash money among the flood-affected people in Kishoreganj district.

Other organisations which distributed relief materials included Dhaka University Teachers' Association, Jatiya Party, Jatiya Oikya Mancha, Sammilito Sangskritik Jote, Bangladesh Sanjukta Sramik Federation, Shams Group, Bangladesh Free Trade Union Congress and Development Organisation for Rural Poor.
