Ways to restart North Bengal Paper Mills underway

A meeting was held Monday at the conference room of the industries ministry to discuss the ways of restarting the productions of the North Bengal Paper Mills (NBPM) on priority basis.With Industries Minister Matiur Rahman Nizami in the chair, the meeting discussed in detail the condition of the machinery, location, availability of raw materials and liabilities of the NBPM, an enterprise of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC), which was earlier paid-off. The meeting was attended, among others, by Industries Secretary Ayub Qadri, BCIC Chairman Major Gen (retd) Imam-uz-Zaman and senior officials of the ministry and BCIC, an official handout said. The meeting was told that restart of productions in the NBPM would be proved feasible if the mill could be run under joint ownership of BCIC and private enterprise, instead of running it under direct state management.
