'WB cable operators obstruct access'

High business ambition of the cable operators in West Bengal is the main obstacle to the access of Bangladeshi TV channels in India, said the speakers at a discussion yesterday. They said the Indian government should take necessary measures to ensure the broadcast of Bangladeshi TV channels there. The discussion on 'What are the obstacles to broadcast Bangladeshi TV programmes in neighbouring country' was held at the ongoing media conference in the city. The three-day Media Conference 2004 was jointly organised by Centre for Development Communication, Bangladesh Centre for Development, Journalism and Communication and Mass Line Media Centre at the British Council. Assistant Editor of the Protham Alo Mashiul Alam presented a keynote paper at the discussion. NTV Executive Director Hasnain Khurshid, Channel IManaging Director Faridur Reza Sagor and ATN Bangla Chief Advisor Saiful Bari also spoke.
