Relief activities continue in flood-hit areas


Different political parties and socio-cultural organisations yesterday continued their relief activities in flood-hit areas.

LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan distributed relief materials among the flood victims at Noorer Chala Mosque area at Badda in the city. State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Major (Retd) Quamrul Islam was present.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain distributed relief materials at Shahnuri Boys School and Madhubag field in the capital. Mosaddek Ali Falu MP and Chairman of Red Crescent Society Major General (Retd) ZA Khan were present.

State Minister for Education ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon distributed money, medicine and relief materials among the 12 thousand flood-affected rickshawpullers in Chandpur.

Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) President Prof AQM Badrudozza Chowdhury distributed relief materials at Nandipara under Khilgaon thana. He also treated sick people at Kachpur BSCIC Industrial Area.

BDB Secretary General Major (Retd) Abdul Mannan was present.

Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) distributed cooked food among the flood victims at Kulkandi and Muradabad areas under Islampur upazila in Jamalpur district. CPB President Comrade Manjurul Ahsan Khan inaugurated the programme which will continue throughout the month.

Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal distributed relief materials at different flood shelters at Haimchar upazila in Chandpur district.

Bangladesh Krishak League Keraniganj upazila unit also distributed relief among the flood victims.

Abdul Awal Chowdhury, secretary of Chittagong unit of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society handed over a cheque for 2,15,000 to its chairman.

Other organisations, which distributed relief materials, included Bangladesh Scouts and Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association.
