2 bombs recovered from DMC

Police yesterday recovered two handmade bombs from Dhaka Medical College's administrative building following a bomb threat by an anonymous caller that created panic among college staff.

"A person called at 7:30am. As I picked up the phone, he warned me that there are bombs inside the building," said Yousuf Fakir, emergency ward boy of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Yousuf immediately informed the police camp near the ward about the incident.

Rajon, a cleaner of the college, meanwhile, found the crackers. One cracker was inside a flower tub on ground floor and the other on the second floor.

On information, Ramna police recovered the bombs and searched the building for more crackers.

Alamgir Hossain, personal assistant of the college principal, said an anonymous caller was asking for the principal at 8:30am. He threatened with any dire consequences for recovering the bombs.

DMC Students Union brought out a procession on the campus, laying the blame of the bombs on the opposition Awami League's student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League.
