Polls to 21 municipalities Oct 6, 7

The Election Commission (EC) yesterday announced schedule for the elections in 21 pourasabhas. According to the schedule elections will be held on October 6 and 7.The pourasabhas are Charghat, Bera, Ishwardi, Santhia, Chatmohar, Betagi, Mehediganj, Swarupkati, Islampur, Bhaluka, Bajitpur, Bhairab, Narsingdi, Faridpur, Bhedarganj, Chhatak, Srimongal, Shaharasti, Raozan, Khargachhari and Rangamati. The last date for submission of nomination papers is September 13 and scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on the following day. The last date of withdrawal of nomination is September 20. The EC has appointed the additional district magistrate and the district election officer as the returning and assistant returning officer for the pourasabhas in the district headquarters.It has also appointed the upazila nirbahi officer and the upazila election officer as the returning and assistant returning officer for the pourasabhas in upazila.
