Attack on AL rally
proper inquiry demanded

The UK Committee for Resisting Killers and Collaborators of Bangladesh Liberation War 1971 has demanded proper investigation into deadly grenade attack on Awami League rally on August 21.

In a press statement on Saturday, the committee expressed its deep shock at the death of veteran Awami League leader Ivy Rahman and

sympathy for over 200 others injured in the attack.

"On one hand, the government has been calling on the opposition to forge united front in order to check 'subversive activities' while on the other hand, it is using brutal measures against the opposition," the statement added.

It also demanded security for the family members of late Professor Humayun Azad, editors and reporters of the Prothom Alo and members of the Ahmadiya religious community.
