New judges meet president

President Iajuddin Ahmed yesterday stressed disposing of the backlog of cases to help mitigate the sufferings of people. He said this when new 19 judges of the High Court division of Bangladesh Supreme Court made a courtesy call on him at Banga-bhaban yesterday. Iajuddin wished them success in their new assignment. He also hoped that the judges would "uphold the dignity of the court through establishing the rule of law". The judges are Syed Abu Kausar Md. Dabirush Shan, Shahidul Islam, Mohd Abdul Hai, Qamrul Islam Siddique, Fazlur Rahman, Nirmalendu Dhar, Mainul Islam Chowdhury, Mohd Emdadul Haq, Mohd Raisuddin, Mohd Emdadul Haq Azad, ABM Hatem Ali, Mohd Ataur Rahman Khan, Syed Mohd Ziaul Karim, Mohd Rezaul Huq, Sheikh Abdul Awal, SM Emdadul Haq, Faisal Mahmud Fayzi, Mamnun Rahman and Farah Mahbub.
