One case, 7 judges


Seven judges conducted the historic Jail Killing Case since the trial started way back in 1998.

The judges are Dhaka District and Sessions Judge Golam Rasul, Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sheikh Rezwan Ali, Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge AK Roy, Metropolitan Sessions Judge Ahmed Jamil Mostafa, Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mollah Mostafa Kamal, Mohammad Motiur Rahman and Mohammad Sirajul Islam.

Judge Golam Rasul went on retirement after delivering verdict of the Bangabandhu murder case while Judge Sheikh Rezwan Ali was appointed justice to the High Court.

Judge AK Roy was transferred as a secretary to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Judge Ahmed Jamil Mostafa retired.

Judge Mollah Mostafa Kamal had been promoted to District and Sessions judge while Judge Motiur Rahman fell sick yesterday and could not attend the court to deliver the much-anticipated judgement.

Judge Mohammad Sirajul Islam has also been promoted to district judge and is likely to join the Tribunal for Prevention of Public Safety Disturbances in Khulna tomorrow.
