Nationalised banks get six new Mds, pay commission two members

The government yesterday promoted six deputy managing directors as managing directors of nationalised commercial and specialised banks, besides appointing two new members to the National Pay Commission.Among the promoted bankers, M Tahminur Rahman was made the MD of Sonali Bank, Sonali Bank DMD S M Aminur Rahman the MD of Janata Bank and Janata Bank DMD Dewan Mujibur Rahman as Karmashangsthan Bank MD. M Ziaul Haq was promoted from DMD to MD of Bangladesh Shilpa Bank, M Shamsul Alam appointed as Bangladesh Commerce Bank MD and A H Iqbal Hossain as Basic Bank MD. A move to promote seven general managers of the nationalised banks to the rank of DMD is still under consideration, finance ministry sources said, adding the promotions would be made on the basis of seniority. 2 JOIN PAY COMMISSION
The government has appointed A B M Mahbubul Amin Khan and M Azizul Haq to the National Pay Commission, increasing the number of its members from 14 to 16. Haq is a former inspector general of police and Khan a former deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank. The commission was set up on July 10 headed by former cabinet secretary Mujibul Haq.
