Ismail Hossain Babu, chairman of Bhandarkot union, and four others were arrested by Rab from his house at Bhandarkot.

Babu is an armed cadre of outlawed New Biplobi Communist Party, Rab press release said. Other arrestees are Pritish Gain, Tapash Herhi, Moinul Islam and Jalal Hossain.

They are being interrogated at Khalishpur Rab headquarters in connection with several murder and arms cases.

Meanwhile, Rab arrested awami League leader Mohammod Shaharul Islam in Jessore town and recovered a home-made pistol, two rounds of 303 rifle ammunition and a live hand bomb from his possession. Shaharul is the Jessore Sadar thana Awami League organising secretary.
