International Literacy Day today

The International Literacy Day 2004 will be observed across the country today through massive campaign for promoting education. To mark the day, the government has chalked out elaborate programmes that include discussions, broadcasting of interview-based radio-television functions and publication of supplements, posters and festoons. As part of the central programme, a function has been arranged at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in observance of the day and also marking the inauguration of the Second Primary Education Development programme. Prime Minister Khaleda Zia will attend the function as chief guest, while Finance Minister M Saifur Rahman will be special guest, an official announcement said.
