JCD activists lock Barisal Polytechnic
Angered by result debacle

Three JCD (Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal) leaders kept main gates of academic and administrative buildings at Barisal Polytechnic Institute locked for one hour and a half yesterday as they failed in practical examinations.They, along with others also brought out a procession on the campus and chanted slogans against Junior Instructor Rezaul Bahar at Civil Department demanding his removal. According to campus sources, results of the 5th semester examination were published on August 3. But results of Zahirul Islam, Assistant Sports Secretary of the Students Union; Asaduzzamn and Anjan Prasad Mitra, all belonging to JCD, remained withheld. Their results were published on Monday but they failed in practical examinations. The results are prepared from attendance records, class tests and quiz tests. The three together with their followers lacked up the main gates at about 11 am. Being called, police reached the campus at about 12:30 pm. The students later unlocked the gates in presence of police following assurance from Principal Abu Bakr Siddique. The Principal told students that marks in practical examinations were given by Rezaul Bahar earlier. Bahar is now at Patuakhali Polytechnic Institute on deputation, it was gathered.
