Leaders with one-track mind
AZ, Dhaka
The problem with Bangladesh is less to do with the standard of political culture than allowing ordinary citizens with one-track minds to play a leadership role in the society. We naive citizens foolishly mete out our own punishment, and then blame those we elected!Bad politics is the resultant fall-out, as are also terrorism and corruption. With tacit support and backing from the top, such wicked elements take roots in the society. The ultimate responsibility rests on the masses, which are the silent majority. Why do we encourage the leaders who have nothing worthwhile to give? The progress of a nation is directly proportional to the cumulative virtues of good and right leadership. The latter is not for opportunism. Our politics is defunct, as the accumulated interest is more than the capital invested. If a leader cannot lead, he becomes a dead weight, and the weight is transferred to the majority, while the microscopic minority reap the harvest of the doting and the dead.
