Popularising Bangladeshi dance and music in the US

Eminent dancer and the director of the Nrityanandan and an active member of the Jatiyo Rabindra Sangeet Shammilon Parishad, Sharmila Bondyapadhaya and her students Warda Rihab and Safina Ankur recently visited USA. They made the journey at the invitation of the music school at the Herberger College of Fine Arts, Arizona State University. The aim was to popularise Bangladeshi dance and music in America.An audience packed Katzin Concert Hall testified to the popularity of the programme titled Bangladesher Hridoy Hotey. Tagore singers like Lopa Ahmed, Tapan Majumder, Ashit Kumar Dey, Amit Dey, Abdus Sattar and Subrata Roy of Jatiyo Rabindra Sangeet Shammilon Parishad, Dhaka, performed in the programme. During the five-week tour, Sharmila and her troupe also performed at programmes held in New Jersey and New York.
