Ill-fated democracy?

US Ambassador to Bangladesh, Harry K Thomas, has underscored the need for strengthening the local government for promoting democratic practices. I do not understand why Mr. Thomas is continually emphasising promotion of democracy. If we consider the incidents of the last 15 years of democracy, even a little baby can easily understand that democracy has turned Bangladesh into a jungle without security and tranquillity and it will continue pushing Bangladesh towards further turmoil and chaos if the people of Bangladesh still listen to the words of the people like the US Ambassador and some so-called intellectuals and journalists. In Europe, democratically elected politicians such as Jörg Haider, Jean-Marie Le Pen, Berlusconi, Umberto Bossi, Gianfranco Fini and Pim Fortuyn are a reminder of democracy's defects: an anti-racist dictatorship is preferable to a racist democracy. Democracy is expanding globally - not because of its moral superiority, but because democracies successfully invade non-democracies. A peaceful 'transition to democracy' is exceptional, and often it is brutal.. Therefore, the people of Bangladesh are supposed to realise the facts of "Democracy in Iraq and other Muslim lands" and the pain and the sufferings of those states. Really, it is time to realise the truth. Democracy is indeed a fake idea.
