Army deployed at Wasa pump stations

The government yesterday deployed army at all pump stations of Dhaka Water and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) to ensure uninterrupted water supply during Ramadan. A total of 133 army personnel have been deployed in all the pumps and operation control rooms in six zones following a request of the Wasa authority. "The army personnel will help operate the pump stations and water treatment plants as well as assist Wasa in distribution of water during the month of Ramadan," said ANH Akhtar Hossain, managing director of Dhaka Wasa. Wasa requested for army deployment to prevent any chaos in water supply as local goons and influential people often create such problem in different places. The deployment was made as per a decision taken at a meeting held at the local government, rural development and cooperatives ministry a couple of days ago.
