Replica of Centennial Bell of Rotary Int'l handed over to president

A delegation of Rotarians led by past District Governor Iftekharul Alam, called on President Iajuddin Ahmed at Bangabhaban yesterday.They handed over the replica of the "Centennial Bell" of the Rotary International to the President. The Rotary Club of Dhaka, founded in 1937, received the "Centennial Bell" on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Rotary International. The Bell would travel the hundred-old Rotary Clubs of different countries and end its journey in Chicago in June 2005 when the Centennial Rotary International convention will begin. Iajuddin appreciated the humanitarian activities of the members of the Rotary Clubs throughout the world, particularly in Bangladesh and wished them further success in their social welfare activities. He urged the Rotarians to help the acid burned women and establish a heart centre.
