Police said Nuruzzaman, 28 and Nasir, 30, both tailors, were abducted from Aminpara of Chunkutia. The abductors demanded a ransom of Tk 1 lakh. Failing to realise the money, they slaughtered the two and dumped the bodies into a ditch at Nazirerbagh.

Police arrested one of the abductors named Sumon at Chunkutia yesterday. On his confessional statement, they recovered the body of Nuruzzaman from the ditch.

The body of another victim, Nasir, was recovered on Thursday from the same ditch. No one could identify him at that time. The body was sent to hospital for autopsy.

A case was filed against eight people including identified criminals Arif, Sumon, Anwar and Asad for murder of the two.
