Save education from politicisation
Speakers tell discussion

Everybody should come forward to safeguard education and educational institutions from politicisation for greater national interest, said the speakers at a discussion yesterday.

They said the main resource of a country is its people, and their development depends on proper education.

The discussion was organised by the National Front of Teachers and Employees (NFTE) to mark the United Nations Day at the central office of the Federation of the Teachers' Association in the city.

The speakers announced their stand in favour of education, peace and human rights.

They said development, poverty elimination and protection of human rights are possible only through proper education.

The speakers said despite various limitations, the United Nations has no substitute.

Bangladesh had proved the effectiveness of the world body by participating in its peace keeping programme for more than ten years, they added.

Presided over by Prof Kazi Farook, the discussion was participated by

Mohammad Azizul Islam, Prof Asadul Haque, Principal Abdur Rashid, Prof MA Sattar, Prof Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury and Mohammad Julfikar Ali.
