VGF: 200 destitute women return empty handed

Over 200 destitute women returned home disappointed after a day long wait for VGF rice at Udakhali Union Parishad office Fulchari upazila on Thursday.The women from Udakhali union thronged the UP office since morning as it was announced earlier that VGF rice would be distributed. But no rice was distributed till 3 pm, allegedly because the UP chairman and members could not agree on some matter, sources said. As there was no settlement, the UP leaders left without distributing rice. "I am fully dependent of VGF rice and will have to starve now" said Latifa Begum (card No. 151) of Purbo Udakhali village. When contacted, then Fulchari UNO termed the matter distressful and said it will be investigated.
