Mineral water plant run by the disabled opens tomorrow
Tk19.5crore plant to purify around 3,000 litres of water every hour

In a move for greater welfare of the disabled, the government has set up the country's first disabled-run mineral water plant costing Tk 19.5 crore in Tongi.With brand name "Mukta", the bottled mineral water will be marketed in five different sizes. Prime Minister Khalada Zia will inaugurate the water plant tomorrow. Addressing a press conference at his office yesterday, State Minister for Social Welfare Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid said price and standard of the mineral water produced at the newly set up plant would be relatively better than those already in the market. He said the plant would purify around 3,000 litres of water every hour through Reverse Osmosis system. Mujahid said the new plant has created diversified employment opportunity for some 250 disabled people. Under the same project international standard plastic products of various kinds were already being produced, he added. Social Welfare Secretary Kazi Monwarul Huq and Director General of Social Welfare Department Hafizul Islam Mia were present at the press briefing.
