Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad opens regional branches
The Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad (NSSP) has recently begun a series of programmes such as seminars, workshops and soirees of Nazrul Sangeet across the country. In September, the Chittagong branch of the Parishad commenced its journey with Jelly Chowdhury as its convenor. After Eid-ul-Fitr, members of the central committee have plans to go to Khulna to open a new branch there. The regional branches will conduct similar programmes at regional levels, says a press release.On the first occasion of its regular monthly initiative, recently the central Parishad organised an evening of Nazrul Sangeet at the Nazrul Institute auditorium featuring four upcoming artistes--Biswajit Sanyal, Rokhsana Khanam, Shahid Kabir Polash and Noshin Laila. Sponsored by the Social Welfare Secretary of the central committee, Shajahan Patwari, the programme was attended by President of NSSP Ferdausi Rahman and General Secretary MA Mannan. To the delight of Nazrul fans, the speakers at the programme revealed that a website was on the cards, featuring Nazrul Sangeet artistes, clippings of Nazrul songs, interviews and information on our National Poet.
