"Political governance index"
A Mahasen Dhaka
It is time some of the think-tanks in Dhaka undertook a study on what might be classified as political governance index (PGI), or something to that effect. Such figures are not available internationally, while the governance efficiency in the third world countries leaves much to be desired. Both politics and economics cannot keep up with the changing morale and modes. The experts and analysts can easily point out about the branches and the leaves to be trimmed; but what about roots and new seeds? The studies of TI (Transparency International) have become a sensitive issue with political governments in power (elected!), and the name of Bangladesh gets publicity. There are several types of poverty, literacy, economic, human rights, and leaders are getting rather out of control, as they form the regimes and make the lives of the impoverished masses miserable with their one-sided views and projections, and control the media and indulge in acts of anti-democratic suppressions and oppressions. Even they make the parliament unworkable! Why do we allow selfish giants to rule our lives? The mechanisms for controlling them are available (elections or the right to choose, and court judgements) but here also the existing institutions fall due to adoption of corrupt practices or unfair means. Bad politics and immoral practices are today ruling (and ruining) the lives of billions, who have also the right to have a piece of the different cakes enjoyed by the minority vested groups.
