"Buy local products "

Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has recently urged her countrymen to give preference to local products including clothes during their festival shopping to encourage local producers. Referring to the plight of thousands of poor weavers who had been severely affected by the recent devastating flood, the prime minister called upon all to purchase clothes made by local handlooms during Durga Puja, the coming Eid, and other festivals.

There is no doubt that in the recent years local producers have made tremendous improvement in the quality of their products including clothes. Perhaps a more reliable marketing network can increase popularity of local clothes and ensure fair price for the local weavers.

Meanwhile, I sincerely appreciate our prime minister's concern for the local products and producers and firmly hope that citizens will buy local products, including clothes, spontaneously.
