Mob lynches 4 robbers, ex-army man shot dead

A mob yesterday lynched four alleged robbers after they shot a retired army person to death in Badarpur Bazar in the sadar upazila.Police said the robbers gunned down sergeant (retd) Malek Talukdar, 40, at 8:00pm when he suspected them of being criminals. Hearing gunshots, locals chased the assailants and caught the four. The robbers also stabbed two people -- Aziz and Shajahan -- in their desperate bid to flee from the spot. Superintendent of Police Md Shafiqul Islam visited the spot.
