Aggrieved candidates protest new class 4 recruitment at DMC

About fifty people yesterday demonstrated at the Dhaka Medical College (DMC) campus, protesting the selection of candidates for appointment to various posts in the college.

DMC authorities yesterday morning announced the names of 25 successful candidates as class four employees.

The protesters alleged that those who were enrolled paid bribes to influence the officials.

About half of the selected candidates were 'outsiders' who do not qualify for employment at the college, said the protesters, chanting slogans at the corridor to the principal's room.

"The rule is that nearest relatives of deceased persons who worked in the college are given priority for employment. But ignoring the rule, the authorities have selected many outsiders," said Dipu Kumar Das, son of a former college staff Shiv Kumar who died 13 months ago.
