Bid to push in 50 Indians foiled

Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) personnel and villagers foiled a BSF (Border Security Force) bid to push 50 Indian nationals into Bangladesh through Panbari border of Patgram upazila on Tuesday night.

Villagers along with BDR have been guarding the 286-km border of the district after the incident.

Local BDR Commander Lt Col Helal said the BSF tried to push the Indian nationals into Bangladesh at midnight. They and the villagers were kept ready and foiled the attempt.

The BSF men were seen shifting the Indian nationals in trucks to unknown destination, he added.
