Lloyd arrives today to assess 4 stadia

Legendary West Indies cricketer Clive Lloyd arrives in Dhaka this morning to assess four new cricket stadiums in the country waiting for recognition as international venues.

The 60-year old former West Indies captain, now an International Cricket Council (ICC) Match Referee, will inspect all the four venues during his five-day visit before submitting a report to the game's governing body.

Llyod will first visit the Fatullah Stadium on the outskirts of the capital today and then inspect the newly-built Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra, which was highly praised by the ICC officials during the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, on Friday.

The day after, he will fly to Chittagong to examine the Divisional Stadium, which has been prepared exclusively for cricket.

The captain of the all-conquering Caribbean side of the 80s will then visit the Khulna Stadium on November 8.

Lloyd will also watch the last one-

day international between hosts Bangladesh and New Zealand at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) on November 7.

The BNS apart, Chittagong's MA Aziz Stadium is the other venue of international repute in the country at the moment. But the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will not be able to use the all-purpose BNS from March next year after they have

decided to choose the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur as their permanent home.

Moreover, the Board is also reluctant to share the MA Aziz Stadium with other sports and keen to make the Divisional Stadium in the port city as a future home of international cricket.
