Strike called off at RMCH

Nurses along with third and fourth-class employees of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) called off their strike Tuesday night following assurance of action against two JCD leaders for their alleged harassment of two nurses earlier.

Normalcy returned to the hospital yesterday after the strike was called off at 11 pm Tuesday after 48 hours.

It was alleged that Maruf Hasan, vice-president of RMC Student Council and intern Hira, both JCD leaders, had physically assaulted two staff nurses --Jannatul Ferdous and Emili Banu-- on November 30.

They complained to leaders of Bangladesh Diploma Nurses'' Association at RMCH. The Association, joined third and fourth class employees, formed a committee on October 31.

They met the Acting Director of RMC and urged him to take action against the JCD leaders within twenty four hours. As no action was taken, they went on strike.
