Witnesses said Nehalpur Union Parishad (UP) member Mashiur Rahman along with his two associates - Nazmu Islam Babu, 30, and another unidentified aged about 32 - was returning home from Monirampur Bazar in a motorcycle at about 8:30pm.

When they reached Jhautala, a speedy truck dashed their bike, killing Moshiur on the spot and injuring his two associates critically.

They were rushed to nearby Abhoynagar Upazila Health Complex where they succumbed to their injuries.

Locals caught the truck driver and handed him over to the police.

Police seized the truck. A case was filed with Abhoynagar Police Station.
