Explosives Recovered in Tangail destroyed

The grenades, mortar shells, mines and other explosives recovered in Magontinagar village in Modhupur Thursday were destroyed yesterday.

An 11-member special team led by Lieutenant Hasanuzzaman of Shahid Salahuddin Cantonment destroyed the explosives.

Modhupur police think the explosives were kept there during the Liberation War in 1971.

Police and local sources said some labourers hired by Abraham Mangsang found the explosives while digging his pond.

Police later recovered nine 36-MH grenades, 12 mortar shells, 14 anti-personnel mines, 200 GC-Primer, 100 meter detonating cord, four pager switches, 80 non-electric detonators, one fuse for anti-tank mine and huge amount of explosives.
