Pay salary, festival allowance before Eid
Non-govt pry teachers urge govt


Non-government primary teachers yesterday called upon the government to pay their salary of September and October and festival allowance before the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

Addressing a press conference in the city, Bangladesh Non-government Primary Teachers Association threatened to hold month-long rallies from November 20 to December 20 at district and divisional levels across the country if the government fails to pay the salary and allowance within the Ramadan 25.

Leaders of the association also declared to hold grand rally and token hunger strike at Muktangon in the city on December 22 and submit a memorandum to the prime minister in support of their demand.

They threatened to launch tougher movement if the government does not meet their main demand nationalisation of job by the deadline.

They also urged the prime minister to remove the salary discrimination between the government and the non-government teachers.

Association President Mohammad Samsul Alam, Vice-president Sahidul Islam Khan, acting Secretary General Abdur Rahman Bachchu, Joint Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, Organising Secretary Megendra Mohan Saha, Publication Secretary Shamsul Haq and 22 districts leaders were present at the press conference.
