BSF close to pushing in 250 Indians

The Border Security Force (BSF) has detained some 250 Bangla-speaking Indian Muslims in the villages along the northwestern frontiers to push them into Bangladesh at an opportune moment.

Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) sources and locals said the BSF on Thursday and Friday failed to push in those Indians. The Indian border guards on Saturday night halted their push-in bid in the wake of patrols by the BDR, Ansars and VDP and villagers, they added.

The BSF detained about 50 such victims, mostly women and children, in a primary school near Lokma village in Dakshin Dinajpur in West Bengal near the pillar No. 277 along the Joypurhat border.

The BSF also assembled over 200 Bangla-speaking Muslims in villages in India along Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram and Naogaon borders.

The Indian border guards are, in fact, moving the victims along the northwestern borders from one place to another almost every night to serve their purpose, sources said.

The BDR, Ansars and VDP and villagers are on high alert to thwart any push-in bid, the sources added.
