Darren Maddy hit a blistering 34 as England beat Sri Lanka in the final of the Hong Kong Sixes Cup to retain the event they won in 2003.Sri Lanka won the toss and mustered 61 off their five eight-ball overs with Hasantha Fernando making 24. Graham Napier's single over was hit for just six runs and he took one wicket. Maddy, opening the batting, smashed his runs off just 11 balls before retiring and England, unbeaten through the two days, cruised home in the fourth over. Captain Matthew Maynard and first day's hero Dimitri Mascaren-has were both at the crease when the win was secured off the first ball of the fourth over. "We bowled magnificently," said Maynard afterwards. "Our bowlers won the game for us." England had booked their berth in the final with a 15-run victory over the United Arab Emirates after totalling 92-4, in which Maddy again shone with 39 not out. He also featured in important partnerships with Napier and Chris Tremlett after England had slumped to 35-3 early on. In the other semifinal, Sri Lankan off-spinner Dilruwan Perera took a hattrick in a 10-run victory over Pakistan. Hong Kong thrashed Kenya in the final of the plate competition, scoring a massive 135-1, and bowling out the Africans for 85.
