Six left leaning student bodies at Rajshahi University yesterday brought out a procession and held a rally in Rajshah city demanding removal of Vice- chancellor Prof Faisul Islam Faruki and Proctor Prof Shamsul Alam Sarker and withdrawal of "false cases" against 54 students.Speakers at the rally held at the Zero Point rejected the committee formed by the university authorities to probe the October 30 violence, saying it included people involved in attack on teachers and students. They demanded a judicial probe into the incident and threatened of tougher agitation if the demands are not met. BCL central join secretary Kamruzzan Chancol led the procession. The student leaders also demanded removal of the controversially appointed employees who were allegedly involved in attacks on students and teachers. They demanded exemplary punishment to the persons responsible. The rally was addressed by, among others, RU Samajtrantrik Chhatra Front General Secretary Shusantho Singha, Chhatra Federation General Secretary Manisha Mahruha, Chhatra Union President SM Chandon and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader Gazi Mojammel Haque Polin. Earlier on Saturday, a delegation of 11-Party Alliance led by Workers Party leader Fazle Hossain Badsha met RU acting vice chancellor Prof KAM Shahadat Hossain Mondol at his office and submitted a memorandum containing several demands. Their demand include immediate withdrawal of "false cases" against the students, cancellation of RU probe committee and a judicial probe into the incidents, cancellation of controversial appointment of 544 employees, punishment to attackers and abettors and an end to violence on the campus. They also called upon all progressive students bodies to unite to "save Rajshahi University". The memorandum was singed by Fazle Hossain Badsha, Enamul Haque of CPB, Ruhul Kuddus Tunu of Bangladesh Samajtrantrik Party, Advocate Fazlul Haque of Gono Forum and others.
